NEW YORK (WABC) --
Travel and mass transit is getting back to normal throughout the New York area after the winter storm.New York City Transit
System wide service for the MTA and PATH will resume Tuesday morning. Subway service will resume at 9 a.m. Longer suspension can be expected on parts of the LIRR reaching Eastern Long Island.
Officials say trains ran through the night to keep the third rail energized. There's no problem with power. De-icers and snow blower trains have kept tracks clear. Crews kept stations and exposed platforms clear.

LIRR
All LIRR service is suspended. The railroads are activating switch-heaters to lubricate the switches to keep them from freezing shut. In addition, track workers will be positioned in critical locations to be able to respond if any difficulties arise at stations. They're in a holding pattern until crews can conduct visual track inspections.

Metro-North
All Metro-North service is suspended.

New Jersey Transit
NJ Transit will restore service as soon as possible. Buses will resume by 11 a.m., with some trains starting this afternoon
Train service will resume later this afternoon, on a line by line basis, after mandatory federal inspections are complete. Line by line announcements will be made.
Bus service in North Jersey will resume by 11 a.m. if not sooner.
Customers are advised to regularly check NJTransit.com for the latest service information.
Crews are standing by to respond to downed trees, power outages or other issues.
PATH
Service on the PATH rail system is suspended until further notice. Get updates at PANYNJ.gov
Amtrak
Due to the severe winter storm in the Northeast region, the Amtrak operating plan for Tuesday, Jan. 27 includes suspended service north of New York and trains operating south of New York on a reduced schedule with impacts to Virginia service.
Today, Northeast Regional and Acela Express services are operating on a reduced schedule between New York and Washington as is the Keystone Service (New York - Harrisburg, Pa.). Most Virginia trains are in service, but will not operate north of New York. Passengers are encouraged to confirm train status before traveling to the station.
